City of Berkeley Parks Recreation & Waterfront Marina Division & Public Works gives out free compost, for Berkeley residents.  This service is available from February to October, at the Berkeley Marina.

Time: Last Saturday of the month
          7:30 a.m.- compost is gone

Twice a year the Waste Management of Alameda County gives away a cubic foot of organic compost, (from WM EarthCare), to Albany residents.

Manure

Mr. Taylor can provide a trailer load of horse manure in exchange for two flats of vegetables and $5.  He delivers manure to school gardens, community gardens or nonprofit organizations, who have garden program/services and/or grow fruits and veggies for people in the Oakland area. Each trailer load of manure is about 1700 -3500 lbs.  Mr. Taylor would need a place to dump the load safely once on site.

WM EarthCare donates free compost to nonprofits, or other 501 (c)(3) organizations, whose focus is fostering the environment by gardening.  

Eligible organizations should be located in the following counties: Alameda, Marin, Monterey and Santa Clara.
