The Bread Project offers cooking and commercial baking programs for low-income people who are entering the food industry.
The Food Service program teaches barista, general culinary and customer service skills needed for food retail, (ie. restaurants, cafes). The Bakery Production program trains students in baking basics and how to manufacture food. The Food Service program is 9 weeks and the Bakery Production program lasts 12 weeks. Both programs offer job preparation training. Also, graduates receive job search support for up to a year following graduation.
The Junior Chef Society is a culinary training program that teaches inner-city youth about culinary arts and urban agriculture. Participants, (14-25 years of age), also learn about eating healthy and becoming self-sufficient. The Junior Chef Society assists trainees in finding employment as well.
